CLASS SCHEDULE
If you are considering the GCCC Educator Preparation
Institute program, review the course offerings listed below. The vast majority of the
program is offered over three 8-week mini-semesters. These programs
meet ONE Saturday each month, with the rest of the activities
occurring online. Attendance at Saturday sessions is
mandatory.
IMPORTANT:
All EPI Candidates are REQUIRED to REGISTER and
successfully pass the Professional Education Exam (PEd).
To obtain your Professional Teaching Certificate, the Florida
Department of Education requires you pass at least one Subject
Area Exam (SAE). You
may also be required to pass the General Knowledge Exam (GK).
The PEd must be taken before you can graduate from the GCCC EPI.

determined by Florida D.O.E., not GCCC. Visit

The Department of Education requires the
following to obtain a Professional Teaching Certificate.

Complete a 4-year college degree from a regionally accredited
institution of higher learning.
-
Complete an Educator Preparation Institute (EPI) or
state approved equivalent program.
-
Pass
the FTCE Professional Education Exam
(PEd).
-
Pass
the subject/grade level state exam for the area(s) you
wish to teach
(SAE).
-
Pass
the General Knowledge Exam (GK). You will not have to take
this exam if you took the CLAST prior to July 1, 2002.
**You must
pass the FTCE Professional Education Exam in order to
graduate from the Educator Preparation Institute.
