GCCC EDUCATOR PREPARATION INSTITUTE PROGRAM OVERVIEW

The GCCC Educator Preparation Institute  program consists of 9 courses including 7 classes and 2 field-experiences.  The program offers prospective and practicing teachers pragmatic skills for succeeding in today's K-12 classroom settings.  The classes are presented over 6-8 months through an orientation, 6 Saturday meetings, and weekly online activities.  Each course is offered in an accelerated format, working around school calendars and FCAT testing dates.

GCCC EDUCATOR PREPARATION INSTITUTE COURSES
 To complete the program in 6-8 months, the following schedule is suggested.  Students who enter the program in May will have adjusted schedules due to summer offerings.  Candidates may opt to take fewer courses in each mini-semester.

MINI-SEMESTER ONE (8 Weeks)

·         EPI 0002 INSTRUCTIONAL STRATEGIES (3 Credit Hours)

·         EPI 0010 FOUNDATIONS OF RESEARCHED-BASED PRACTICES in READING (3 Credit Hours)

·         EPI 0020 THE TEACHING PROFESSION (2 Credit Hours)

MINI-SEMESTER TWO (8 Weeks)

·             EPI 0001 CLASSROOM MANAGEMENT (3 Credit Hours)

·     EPI 0004 THE TEACHING AND LEARNING PROCESS (3 Credit Hours)

 ·         EPI 0003 TECHNOLOGY IN THE CLASSROOM (3 Credit Hours)

MINI-SEMESTER THREE (8 Weeks)

·         EPI 0940 THE TEACHING PROFESSION FIELD EXPERIENCE
(1 Credit Hour)

·         EPI 0030 DIVERSITY IN THE CLASSROOM (3 Credit Hours)

·         EPI 0945 DIVERSITY FIELD EXPERIENCE (1 Credit Hour)
