GCCC EDUCATOR
PREPARATION INSTITUTE PROGRAM
E.P.I. MENTORING and NATIONAL BOARD CERTIFIED TEACHERS
The GCCC EPI program implements a mentoring approach in an
effort to link candidates transitioning to teaching with
experienced and certified educators. The cornerstone of this
element of the program is the completion of a variety of
artifacts by the EPI candidate to represent achievement of
competency in skills identified with the Florida Educator
Accomplished Practices (FEAPs).
The EPI program will select quality mentors. National Board Certified Teachers represent the best of what Bay
and surrounding counties have to offer, making ideal role models
for those transitioning to a career in teaching.
If you are a National Board Certified Teacher, these
hours can be counted toward your mentoring hours in partial
fulfillment toward the mentoring stipend as long as the EPI
student is currently a classroom teacher. If you choose to
be an EPI mentor, you would be assigned a candidate(s) seeking
certification in your grade/subject.
That candidate would be required to teach a minimum of 10 hours
in your classroom, or at a classroom in your school, with you
observing. You would be required to complete a
Professional Development Scale that documents competencies in
the FEAPS. Again, these hours can be counted
toward your required observation hours.
We sincerely hope you will
choose our EPI program to in part meet your mentoring hours.
